About this procedure

What is Upper Blepharoplasty?

Upper blepharoplasty is a surgical procedure that removes or repositions redundant upper eyelid skin (and fat when appropriate) to restore a cleaner eyelid platform. The goal is a natural crease, improved symmetry, and — in some patients — relief from the sensation of heaviness.

Incisions are typically hidden within the natural lid crease. Dr. Manandhar emphasises conservative tissue handling to reduce the risk of a hollow or operated appearance.

Candidacy

Who is it for?

Adults with true dermatochalasis (excess upper lid skin), asymmetry, or difficulty with makeup application due to hooding may benefit. Some patients combine upper blepharoplasty with brow procedures when brow position contributes to the problem.

Patients with dry eye, thyroid eye disease, or significant eyelid laxity require careful evaluation and may need adjunctive treatments or alternative plans.

Benefits

Cleaner upper lid contour and crease definition

May improve peripheral sensation of heaviness from redundant skin

Incisions oriented to follow natural eyelid crease anatomy

Potential to combine with brow procedures when indicated

Recovery & aftercare

Avoid rubbing the eyes, wear sunglasses outdoors, and follow eyelid hygiene advice. Contact the clinic promptly if you notice vision changes, severe pain, or unusual swelling.
